Jawai, a little town named after the same-named river, is today a popular tourist destination. The location is known as Jawai Dam since it is close to the dam and is part of the Pali district in Rajasthan’s Sumerpur Tehsil.

Facts about Jawai

Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur created the famed dam, and the community covers 500 square kilometres. Jawai offers a spectacular view of the river due to its location on the embankment. The granite cliffs and hills that encircle the entire area add to its attractiveness. Jawai is also noted for its leopard, bird, and crocodile reserves. With over 100 species of migrating birds visiting each year, it is also known as the winter paradise for migratory birds. Jawai is also home to panthers, hyenas, chinkaras, nilgai, bears, and wolves, in addition to a wide diversity of birds. It is, however, most known for its leopards who are kind to humans.
