Orchha is a town in the Madhya Pradesh state of India’s Niwari district. Rudra Pratap Singh founded the town sometime around 1501 as the centre of an eponymous former princely state in the Bundelkhand area, which included portions of central and north India.
Facts about Orchha
The Ram Raja Temple is the only spot in the world where Lord Ram is revered as both a divinity and a monarch. The Laxmi Narayan temple has a distinct architectural style that combines a fort and a temple. The river Betwa separates into seven channels here, which are known as the Satdhara. This is said to be in honour of the seven former Chiefs of Orchha. The historic town appears to be stuck in time, with many of its monuments retaining their former splendour to this day.
